A consultant in Estonia can advise a business in Singapore. Companies can find talent almost anywhere in the world without opening an office in every country.

The work has become global. The infrastructure around getting paid has not.

For an independent professional, getting paid can involve much more than sending an invoice. There may be identity checks, tax information, payment requirements, questions about where income should be reported, and different rules depending on where the people involved are located. What starts as a straightforward professional relationship can quickly become an administrative exercise.

Businesses face the same problem from the other side. Working with contractors across borders means keeping track of invoices, verifying who they are, collecting the right information, making payments through different systems, maintaining records, and staying on top of increasingly complex compliance requirements.

Something as simple as paying someone for work they have already completed can become surprisingly complicated.

Swifet brings the essential parts of contractor payments into one workflow. A professional can create an account, complete the necessary verification, invoice a client, receive payment, and manage the compliance requirements connected to that payment — without having to piece together a different service for every step.

The idea is deliberately simple: the person doing the work should be able to focus on the work. The business hiring them should be able to focus on its business. The administrative complexity in between should be handled by the infrastructure.

That means building more than an invoicing tool. Swifet is designed around the entire journey from completing the work to getting paid, with verification, payment and compliance built into the experience rather than added as separate tasks.

Compliance is becoming part of the payment experience

The regulatory environment around independent work and digital platforms is also changing. DAC7 has introduced new reporting obligations for covered platform operators, requiring them to collect, verify and report information about certain sellers and their income to tax authorities. European rules around platform work and worker classification are evolving as well.

For businesses working with contractors across borders, compliance can no longer be treated as something to figure out later.

At the same time, compliance should not require every independent professional or finance team to become an expert in tax regulation. The purpose of good financial infrastructure should be to make the complex parts manageable without making the user deal with all of that complexity themselves.

That is the role Swifet wants to play.

We're building the compliance layer into the payment experience itself — from identity and tax information to payment records and reporting requirements. The goal is not to make compliance more visible. It is to make it easier to get right.

We believe the financial infrastructure supporting that reality should work the same way.

The technology for global work already exists. What is still missing is a simple financial layer connecting the people and businesses using it.
